We have a new website! It may not look dramatically different, but I rebuilt it from the ground up. The new site is much faster and should have fewer strange bugs. That includes classics like the store refusing to ship to Ohio for no apparent reason.
I also reorganized the shop and cleaned up the checkout process. Product categories should make more sense now. The new system selector can combine the parts needed for multiple consoles into one cart. Shipping, taxes, stock notices, and account pages should also behave more consistently.
My new full-time job at a startup has taken most of my time and energy. RetroSpy has suffered a little as a result, and I feel bad about that. I still care deeply about RetroSpy and want to keep making its hardware available. I simply need to run the shop in a way that fits my current schedule.
To make the workload manageable, I am moving the shop to a made-to-order model. I will build most products after you place an order. Most orders should ship within one or two weeks. Because I usually build products on weekends, please keep that schedule in mind.
The made-to-order model should help me avoid another problem. Previously, I had to guess which products people might buy and build batches in advance. That tied up parts and time in products that sometimes sat on a shelf. Building for actual orders will let me use the available parts more effectively.
Stock will slowly return over the next few weeks as more parts arrive. Some products may remain unavailable until every required component is back in stock. You can join the waitlist on those products, and the shop will notify you when they return.
I also plan to offer more kit options for DIYers. These kits will reduce my assembly workload and help you get RetroSpy hardware sooner. They will also give people who enjoy building things a less expensive and more hands-on option.
